*sigh, it's coming again. 'I'm sure I'll survive. Come on Plum, you've done this 18 times already, so surely you'll be ok for the 19th time?!' ^_~
Yes. Valentines day. The Big V.Dawg. *Bombshell #foreveralone
Valentines day, a day for couples to traditionally do extra romantic things and treat each other while singletons mourn about how they aren't doing all these romantic things and what not.
But NOO la! (loool, I've noticed I've been adding -la to the end of everything nowadays. These Malaysian pals aren't a good influence on me!) This is not how it has to be! Who says Valentines Day has to be a day just for romantic couples!
Why not surprise your mother and send her some beautiful flowers and a card, just to tell her how much she means to you? So many Valentines cards don't have 'boyfriend' or 'girlfriend' faceplanted on the front, meaning they can be used in many versatile ways! Last year I bought 3, sending one not only to my parents but also my best friends too. Sure I got some queer looks at checkout but hooo ha. Life goes on.
Valentines Day and the days around it can be used to share the love a bit more. You know what I mean? Whether you are single or not, there are so many things you could do, just to show the people around you that you care!
Here are some examples! If your flatmate is ill with the flu, why not make them some congee or buy them some cough medicine? Or if your parents are very busy at work, why not prepare dinner for them to come home to? Your flatmate has her dissertation and other deadlines coming up? Why not be a sweetheart and prepare a hot dinner for her to have in the library? If your friend suffers from low confidence, why not like some of their Facebook photos or compliment on how gorgeous they look in some photos? :)
It doesn't even have to people you are close to or know. Why not buy a sandwich for that homeless man you always see outside the shopping centre? Or give a bright smile to that stressed looking business man who you're about to walk past?
Imagine how much the world would change if everybody just did one nice 'deed' everyday? ^^
So, since the big V is fast approaching, why not use it as an opportunity to show your friends, family and the world how much they mean to you? #Yolo after all! ^_~
For me? Yeah yeah, single again 2013. Lalala. Woohoo, but I'm not going to dwell on it and cry at home eating ice cream. (that's so 1990's) I'm having a sushi party with my close friends instead!
I'm also going to make some chocolate truffles for each one of them! I'm so cute huh? I'll post some photos after I do. ^_~
How are you going to spend Valentines? <3 Whatever you do, have an extra LOVE-ly day!! <3 (sorry that was lame, even for my standards.)
I do not own any of these photos.
